A young man, a somewhat deranged wanderer.
A video about him made rounds over social media, where he was seen breaking open an ATM machine to get back his stuck card, also he made faces while looking at the camera. The guy actually pulled and cracked open the front panel and left the booth after taking his card.
Clearly his mind wasn’t at the right place.
I remember smiling at the time watching that video.
Then news came of his arrest, he was being interrogated. Turned out that he was involved in numerous ATM breaking incidents and stealing cash, in five cities.
And next day, I learned that he has died in Police custody.
I mean… what the hell!
How come!
Okay, I can understand he looks and act as a mentally handicapped person, maybe he had a cardiac arrest. Maybe he smacked his head against the lockup iron bars, or somehow hanged himself I don’t know. What else could be the reason for such a man to die in police custody.
Right?
Well, it is today I saw a viral circulating video of him, couple of cops hurling abuses and assaulting him while asking questions. A cop is standing behind him and clamping his arms backwards and kicking him in the lower back as shown in the video.
Also, images surfaced of his dead body that showed extreme torture signs, deep wounds, burnt skin, broken bones, insane bruises.
I know, it looks bad. It looks like a gruesome murder.
But for now, everything is confusing to me. The official statement says from that police department says that the suspect wasn’t tortured. But at the same time, a murder case has also been registered against the cops who were interrogating this man. Official post-mortem examination report is awaited. It’s also said that images of tortured dead body are fake.
This happened far from where I live, like really far. I have never been there, even to that region. Obviously, time will tell what becomes of it and what was the truth.
This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of a suspect’s death in Police custody.
Maybe he was tortured to death, maybe he wasn’t.
I really do not have the accurate information here and I won’t jump to conclusions. If he was killed by the cops; hell yeah they should be brought to the task and punished for abusing their powers so harshly and insanely.
The most troubling thing for me relating to all this fiasco is that today I saw another video of this young man while he was being interrogated. He was shown sitting on a chair, all calm and smiling.
No cop is shown in that video but its clear that he’s talking to some police officer.
And that is what he said.
“I wanna ask you something if you promise of not beating me…
From where have you learnt the art of torturing?”
These were his last words.
He’s dead.
Again I honestly don’t know if his death was a murder or some unfortunate coincidence. I really don’t know if those circulating images are real or fake. I cannot digest the fact that a cop has intentionally killed him or increased the torture level so up that it killed him even if it wasn’t the cops’ intentions. But I do know it has actually happened in the past where suspects died during the police tortures. That’s murder.
I feel like, this dead man. This ATM robber is asking me… taunting me.
From where we have learnt the art of torturing people so bad.
I feel ashamed.
I feel embarrassed beyond my ability to express.
